Israel's Goal Of Eliminating It 'Doomed To Fail': Hamas

According to Israeli authorities, 129 hostages remain held in Gaza.

Palestinian Territories:

Hamas’s military wing on Thursday declared that Israel’s attempt to eliminate the militant group in Gaza was destined to fail, as the war triggered by attacks on Israel entered its third month.

In an audio recording, Abu Obeida, spokesperson for Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, stated that the release of any more hostages held in Gaza would depend on the cessation of aggression.

Obeida emphasized that Israel’s continued offensive and direct military operations would not result in the safe return of the hostages. He claimed that negotiations were the only viable approach for the release of enemy prisoners alive.

Israeli authorities have reported that 129 hostages are still being held in Gaza.

Obeida stressed that negotiations were the only alternative and warned that Israeli attacks could lead to the deaths of more hostages. He criticized Israel’s leader for evading the truth and refusing to face it.

Shortly after the spokesperson’s recording, Hamas’s armed wing released a video showing three Israeli hostages, claiming that they had been killed in Israeli strikes.

The Gaza war, which started on October 7 when Hamas attacked Israel, has resulted in the capture of approximately 250 hostages and the deaths of around 1,140 people, primarily Israeli civilians, according to official figures reported by AFP.

Israel’s retaliatory bombardment and ground invasion in Gaza have caused the deaths of at least 20,000 people, mostly women and children, according to Gaza’s Hamas government.

A previous truce led to the release of over 100 hostages, including 80 Israelis who were exchanged for 240 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.

The leader of Hamas recently visited Egypt, raising hopes for another truce and a potential agreement to free the remaining hostages. However, no new agreement has been reached in the ongoing talks.

Hamas, the Palestinian militant group governing the Gaza Strip, asserts that Israel’s goal of eliminating it is “doomed to fail.” Hamas, classified as a terrorist organization by several countries, believes that its resistance against Israeli occupation and aggression is justified. It argues that its efforts are rooted in the Palestinian people’s struggle for self-determination and an independent state. While Israel views Hamas as a threat to its security, the Palestinian group maintains popular support among many Palestinians, making its elimination a complex and challenging objective.
