Massive Crowd At Ram Temple Day After Grand Opening, Long Queue Outside

Approximately 300,000 devotees flocked to the Ram temple in Ayodhya yesterday, following its grand inauguration on Monday. The temple’s opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several prominent personalities.

The day after the grand opening, despite the harsh winter conditions, hundreds of thousands of devotees gathered at the temple to seek darshan (sacred viewing) of the Ram idol. Official reports suggest that around 300,000 devotees were able to offer prayers inside the temple, while an equal number waited outside.

Even this morning, images showed a significant number of devotees congregating outside the temple.

In response to the overwhelming turnout, the Uttar Pradesh government has dispatched its Principal Home Secretary Sanjay Prasad and top police officer Prashant Kumar to Ayodhya.

“A massive crowd has assembled here. Principal Home Secretary and I have been deployed. We have implemented an improved queuing system for crowd management. We have created separate channels for people,” said Prashant Kumar, DG (Law and Order).

To ensure security, a thousand personnel from the security forces will remain stationed at the temple for the next few days, as stated by RAF deputy commandant Arun Kumar Tiwari.

Praveen Kumar, Inspector-General of Police Ayodhya, appealed to the public not to rush and advised them to plan their visits after two weeks.

“The crowd is continuous, but we are fully prepared. We urge elderly and differently-abled individuals to schedule their visits after two weeks. I want to emphasize that there is no need to hurry for darshan. The temple will remain open for everyone with better preparations,” he told news agency ANI.

Prior to this, UP police chief Vijay Kumar had assured that an ample number of police officers were deployed within the temple premises, particularly at locations where devotees gather for darshan.

The “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony, marking the installation of the Ram lalla deity, took place on Monday with a star-studded celebration attended by Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Mukesh Ambani and his family, Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt, and other celebrities.
