JMM Leader Lobin Hembrom Uninformed about Shifting of MLAs, Expresses Discontent
Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Lobin Hembrom expressed his dissatisfaction after several JMM MLAs were sent to Hyderabad amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Jharkhand. Hembrom revealed that he was neither informed nor consulted about the decision to shift the legislators.
“I was not asked nor informed about this sudden move. If we are united, we should stay together. If they are so afraid, then we should face the challenges together,” Hembrom stated firmly.
While Hembrom supported the newly appointed Chief Minister Champai Soren and pledged his full-hearted support, he also laid down certain conditions. He urged the Soren government to ban the consumption and sale of liquor and demanded the implementation of the Panchayats Extension to Scheduled Areas (PESA) Act. Additionally, he highlighted the issue of illegal land grabbing and called for the formation of a Commission for displaced people.
“I request the government to fulfill these demands. I will support you, but if not, my agitation will continue,” Hembrom asserted.
Expressing his distress over the arrest of Hemant Soren, former Chief Minister and JMM leader, Hembrom stated that Soren’s advisors were responsible for the current situation. He emphasized his close relationship with Soren, referring to him as his nephew.
Ahead of the crucial floor test for the Champai Soren-led coalition government in Jharkhand on Monday, JMM and Congress MLAs returned to Jharkhand from the resort in Hyderabad. The Soren government, with the support of 43 MLAs, is confident of passing the floor test.
The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will convene for a two-day session starting on February 5. Earlier, Hemant Soren had approached the Supreme Court against his arrest in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. However, the top court directed him to approach the appropriate high court for his plea.
The investigation focuses on the generation of substantial proceeds of crime through the forging of official records and the acquisition of valuable land parcels using fake documents and fictitious buyers and sellers.
