Telangana Cabinet Decides to Change State Abbreviation and Anthem
Hyderabad: In a significant move, the Telangana cabinet, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has announced plans to change the state’s official abbreviation and adopt a new state anthem. Additionally, the cabinet has decided to reimagine the symbolic mother goddess of the state, Telangana Talli, with a new look.
The state anthem will now be Andre Sri’s ‘Jaya Jaya Ho Telangana’, and the state’s abbreviation will be changed from TS to TG. The ruling dispensation has accused the previous regime of choosing ‘TS’ to align with their party name. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), made the change to reflect their national aspirations.
Furthermore, in line with the Congress’s promise to conduct a caste census across the country, the Telangana cabinet has decided to hold a caste census within the state. Chief Minister Reddy had previously announced that a caste census would be undertaken soon.
These decisions were announced ahead of the upcoming Telangana budget session, set to commence on Thursday. Chief Minister Reddy has also challenged his predecessor K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), his son KT Rama Rao (KTR), and nephew Harish Rao to a debate on irrigation projects on the floor of the assembly. The BRS has accepted the challenge.
The Congress and the BRS have been engaged in a war of words, each accusing the other of neglecting the interests of the state and its farmers.
During the session, the state government will also introduce gas and power guarantees, with the Chief Minister set to make the announcements in the assembly.
Additionally, the cabinet has issued orders to allocate 100 acres of land for a new high court complex in Rajendranagar district.
The Telangana cabinet’s decisions seek to bring about significant changes and set the stage for new developments in the state.
