Vishal Bhardwaj recently made a surprising revelation about a project he had been working on. He mentioned his interest in making a film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel “2 States”. Bhardwaj had wanted to cast Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, but due to certain reasons, they were unable to collaborate and the film was not made. In an interview with mid-day, Bhardwaj shared details about the project that didn’t come to fruition, citing differences between him and Khan.

Bhardwaj disclosed that he and Shah Rukh Khan had discussions about collaborating on a film adaptation of “2 States”. However, they had differences regarding the setting of the story. Bhardwaj wanted to set it in a bank like ICICI, rather than a college as depicted in the novel. Shah Rukh Khan had a different vision for the setting. The film was eventually made with Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles, directed by Abhishek Varman.

Bhardwaj also mentioned that both he and SRK have expressed their desire to work together. They have had discussions in the past, and whenever they meet at events like birthdays or public functions, the idea of collaborating resurfaces. Bhardwaj shared, “He always says, and I also feel, that we have to do a film together.”

On the work front, Vishal Bhardwaj’s two projects, “Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley” and “Khufiya”, were released on OTT platforms. The film starring Tabu received praise from fans.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is getting ready for his third release of the year. He will be seen next in “Dunki” with Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. The emotional drama is scheduled to release on December 21. The release date was preponed from December 22.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, ticket pre-sales for “Dunki” will start on Saturday, December 16. Some booking portals may start partial bookings from Friday, December 15. Full-scale bookings will begin on Saturday. Overseas advance reservations began last week, with positive pre-sales numbers indicating potential success. The movie is expected to earn at least USD 2.50 million globally, with the potential to exceed USD 3 million in the international market. If the film is well received, it is expected to generate over USD 15 million during its run over weekends.
