Government Releases Guidelines for Pilot Projects on Green Hydrogen in Shipping Sector

The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) or its successor will serve as the Scheme Implementing Agency (SIA) for retrofitting existing ships under Component-A of the scheme. The SIAs will award the projects through a transparent process, adhering to the provisions of General Financial Rules (GFRs) for all selections and procurement.
The MoPSW will finalize the SIA for Component-B of the Scheme and provide administrative sanctions for the projects based on the recommendations of the Project Appraisal Committee (PAC).
The Executing agencies (EAs) selected for the projects will share their knowledge and project outcomes through reports, workshops, and publications to disseminate best practices and lessons learned from the pilot projects.
The ministry emphasized that financial support for the projects will be assessed and granted based on the specific needs, merits, and feasibility of each individual project.
Implementing green hydrogen and its derivatives in the shipping sector through these pilot projects will contribute to the development of essential infrastructure, including refuelling stations, storage, and distribution networks, ultimately establishing a robust Green Hydrogen ecosystem in the shipping industry, according to the MNRE.
