“Why were regional parties not considered for accommodation?” Rahul Gandhi queries CWC.

The Congress Working Committee conducted a meeting in Delhi to discuss their strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. They pledged to make the INDIA bloc a strong opposition force against the BJP and its allies. However, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized party workers for the defeat in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, stressing the need to collaborate with regional parties to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP in the 2024 elections. The meeting, chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, saw the attendance of 76 party leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi questioned why state units were reluctant to form alliances with smaller parties to defeat the BJP. The leaders also discussed the unsuccessful campaign led by Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh, with some criticizing his autocratic style and refusal to accept feedback. Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of accommodating smaller parties through seat-sharing agreements. After the defeat in Madhya Pradesh, Congress replaced Kamal Nath with Jitu Patwari as the state chief. Rahul Gandhi reminded leaders that the BJP is not unbeatable, as Congress had previously won all three states in 2018. The Congress Working Committee unanimously passed a resolution condemning the suspension of more than 140 MPs from the opposition INDIA bloc in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, alleging that it was done to prevent opposition challenges to the government’s criminal justice laws.,

Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress, posed a question to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) regarding the exclusion of regional parties. Expressing his concerns, Gandhi questioned the party’s decision to not accommodate regional parties, which play a significant role in Indian politics. This query highlights the need for broader alliances and collaborations to strengthen the party’s position and gain wider support across different regions of the country.
