India beat South Africa by 8 wickets and 200 balls remaining

India defeated South Africa by 8 wickets in the first ODI of the series. Chasing 117 runs to go 1-0 ahead, the Men in Blue completed the task in 16.4 overs, with debutant Sai Sudharsan and Shreyas Iyer scoring fifties.

Sai scored an unbeaten 55 runs off 43 balls, laced with 9 fours. Iyer, on the other hand, accumulated 52 runs off 45 deliveries, laced with 6 fours and 1 six.

Ruturaj Gaikwad  managed just 5 runs. Earlier, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan were the star performers with the ball. Arshdeep took his maiden 5-wocket haul. Avesh dismissed 4 batters to keep the Proteas on the back foot.a

South Africa captain Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bat first but his batters couldn’t justify the decision.

Andile Phehlukwayo (33), Tony de Zorzi (28) and Markram (12) were the only batsmen to touch the double-digit mark.
