(Watch) Mitchell Marsh gifts his Player of the Match medal to fan after the AUS vs PAK 1st Test in Perth 

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who was named the Player of the Match for his all-round show in the first Test against Pakistan in Perth, gave away his medal to a young fan.

The star player went to one of the stands and put his Player of the Match medal around the neck of the supporter. Fans loved the gesture, and the video has gone viral. 

He scored 90 runs off 107 balls in the first innings, while the right-handed batter accumulated an unbeaten 63 off 68 balls in the second. 

Marsh also dismissed Pakistan’s syat batter Babar Azam. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins-led team won the game by 360 runs on Day 4 of the Test. They are 1-0 ahead in the three-match series. 

Batting first, Australia managed 487 while Pakistan were bowled out for 271. In the second innings, the host nation put up 233/5d on the board. Chasing 450 runs, the sub-continent team was bowled out for 89.

Mitchell Marsh World Cup controversy 

Marsh was also in the news for his keeping his feet on the ICC World Cup trophy after Australia defeated India in the final. Fans slammed him for disrespecting the Cup, and even Mohammed Shami questioned his gesture. 

However, the player himself was unfazed and said that he would do it again if given a chance. He is currently the captain of the national T20 team and will most probably lead the squad in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024.

Marsh will also turn up for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. He was retained by the franchise ahead of the upcoming auction.
