IPL Auction: Pat Cummins laughs his way to the bank, fans break the internet | Cricket News

Pat Cummins, the victorious captain of Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup team, made history on Tuesday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the costliest player ever. Sunrisers Hyderabad secured his services at the players’ auction in Dubai, splurging Rs 20.50 crore ($2.47 million).
Despite sitting out the previous IPL season due to a busy schedule, the fast bowler surpassed the previous record of Rs 18.50 crore held by England all-rounder Sam Curran, who was acquired by Punjab Kings last year.

Among the other notable players who laughed all the way to the bank were New Zealander Daryl Mitchell, who was bought for Rs 14 crore by the Chennai Super Kings, while Harshal Patel took home Rs 11.75 crore spent by the Punjab Kings.
