Janakpur witnessed a beautiful spectacle as devotees lit 250,000 oil lamps to celebrate the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya. The magnificent Ram Temple, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, stands at a length of 380 feet, a width of 250 feet, and a height of 161 feet. It boasts 392 pillars and 44 doors, intricately adorned with sculptures depicting Hindu deities. The main sanctum sanctorum houses the idol of the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram.
The temple’s main entrance is located on the eastern side, accessed by ascending 32 stairs through the Singh Dwar. The Mandir features five halls, including the Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap, and Kirtan Mandap. Adjacent to the temple is the historic Sita koop well and the restored ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv at Kuber Tila.
The idol of Lord Ram inside the Ayodhya temple, carved by sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Mysuru, stands at 51 inches tall and weighs 1.5 tons. The idol depicts Lord Ram as a five-year-old child standing on a lotus, crafted from the same stone.
