Donald Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize due to his groundbreaking Middle East policy.

Donald Trump Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize For 'Historic' Middle East Policy

New Delhi:

Former US President Donald Trump has received his fourth nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. Republican lawmaker Claudia Tenney has put forth Trump’s name, commending his “historic” policy in the Middle East.

In a statement released on Ms Tenney’s official website, she highlighted Trump’s role in the Abraham Accords treaty, which was signed in September 2020 to formally normalize relations between the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Israel.

Ms Tenney stated, “Donald Trump was instrumental in facilitating the first new peace agreements in the Middle East in almost 30 years. For decades, bureaucrats, foreign policy ‘professionals’, and international organizations insisted that additional Middle East peace agreements were impossible without a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. President Trump proved that to be false.”

Explaining the motivation behind the nomination, Congresswoman Tenney expressed, “The valiant efforts by President Trump in creating the Abraham Accords were unprecedented and continue to go unrecognized by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, underscoring the need for his nomination today.”

Ms Tenney further criticized current US President Joe Biden’s leadership, describing it as “weak” on the international stage. She emphasized the importance of recognizing Trump’s strong leadership and his efforts to achieve world peace, stating, “Now more than ever when Joe Biden’s weak leadership on the international stage is threatening our country’s safety and security, we must recognize Trump for his strong leadership and his efforts to achieve world peace. I am honored to nominate former President Donald Trump today and am eager for him to receive the recognition he deserves.”

It is worth noting that although Mr. Trump, who is currently the front-runner for the Republican presidential nominee, has been nominated several times for the Abraham Accords peace agreement, he did not receive the award during his presidency.

His first nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize came in 2020 when Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament, recognized Trump’s contribution to the deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Tybring-Gjedde, who had previously nominated Trump for the 2019 award for his diplomatic efforts with North Korea, explained that he also nominated him in 2020 due to the US troop withdrawal from Iraq.
