A collection of basketball legend Michael Jordan’s shoes, worn during his six NBA Championships, has been sold for a record-breaking $8 million at an auction in New York, according to a report in the Independent.
The six unique trainers, part of Sotheby’s “The Dynasty Collection,” were worn by Jordan during his championship victories with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s. The auction house announced on February 2 that the entire set was sold for $8,032,800, setting a new record for game-worn trainers at auction worldwide.
The collection includes the Air Jordan VI (1991), VII (1992), VIII (1993), XI (1996), XII (1997), and XIV (1998) models, all signed by Michael Jordan. The sale also included a limited edition autographed picture of Jordan celebrating at four of the championship games, taken by Bill Smith following the NBA Finals in 1992, 1993, 1996, and 1998.
The lot had an estimated value between $7 million and $10 million. Sotheby’s announced that a bidder purchased the entire collection at their New York City office.

Michael Jordan’s illustrious career includes six Finals MVPs, five league MVPs, two Olympic Gold Medals, and six NBA titles.
In the past, Jordan’s memorabilia has also fetched record amounts. His Chicago Bulls jersey, worn in the opening game of the 1998 NBA Finals, sold for $10.1 million at a Sotheby’s auction in 2022.
Last year, a pair of sneakers worn by Jordan during Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals sold for $2.2 million at an auction. The signed “Bred” Air Jordan 13s surpassed Sotheby’s estimate of $2-$4 million.
