Thalapathy68 cinematographer Siddharth Nuni recently criticized Animal for being “toxic and abusive”.

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal has been making headlines for several reasons since its release. Despite its success at the box office, the film has faced accusations of glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity. The latest critic is Thalapathy68 cinematographer Siddharth Nuni.

According to Gulte, cinematographer Nuni recently expressed his disapproval of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal on his Instagram stories, labeling it “toxic and abusive.” He further described the film as glorifying Nazi ideologies and justifying toxic masculinity through random alpha male theories.

Nuni wrote, “I watched the film ‘Animal’ yesterday and honestly, the film triggered me no end. The film’s Nazi glorifying (wearing the swastika on the chest), justifying toxic masculinity with random alpha male theories, the no-holds-barred violence with no rule of law, marital rape, abusive relationships where the woman is relegated to being a mute bystander while the husband behaves like a brute. And the last shot of the film where the character of Ranbir Kapoor signals to the audience to come and suck his p***s were beyond redemption and abusive to the audience’s minds.”

He further questioned the social condition of the country and the lack of censorship for an A-rated film, expressing concern over young children being exposed to its content. Sunny Deol also praised the film but admitted to disliking certain aspects of it.

Released on December 1, Animal depicts a man’s toxic relationship with his father. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film portrays Ranbir Kapoor as an anti-hero who will do anything to protect his emotionally unavailable father, leading to consequences in his personal life.
