Pakistan’s Khurram Shahzad ruled out of Australia series | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Pakistan‘s Test squad has suffered a significant setback as pace bowler Khurram Shahzad has been ruled out of the ongoing series against Australia due to a rib fracture and abdominal muscle tear.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed this unfortunate development, revealing that Khurram experienced discomfort during the first Test in Perth, where he made an impressive debut, claiming five wickets.
The PCB issued a statement stating, “Khurram Shazad has been ruled out of the Test series against Australia due to a stress fracture in his left 10th rib, as well as an abdominal muscle tear.”
As part of the management protocol, Khurram will consult a specialist in Australia before returning to Lahore for rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy.
This injury compounds Pakistan’s bowling woes, with spinner Abrar Ahmad already sidelined due to injury and young speedster Naseem Shah recovering from shoulder surgery. Pakistan faces an uphill battle in the series, having lost the first Test by a significant margin of 360 runs.
